Alright...Otakon! Wow! Overall I had a really good time. I got to see some friends I rarely get to see. I got to hang out and be goofy and just an all around great con. Paul even enjoyed himself too. We want to go back next year, however, according to the web page its going to be Mid August next year...right when school starts up. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Right now its on the books, but I have to see when school starts and such. I really hope we can go back!
So...lets get Started....
Pre-Con! Wednesday night and Thursday
Driving from Valdosta to Maryland was...INSANE! Why did I think that was a good idea. Its a 12 hour drive. Now the first 6 hours went by really fast. From the...OMG I think we are lost cause Google Maps suck hickory smoked donkey balls....to the....Lets just sleep in the car for about an hour....we made it in one piece. I actually did fine driving till we hit Virgina, then I was out and remained out of it till a nap later that day. I was so tired when we met up with Mara at Borders. I didn't mean to be so tired, but I was. We had a really good lunch and then it was DDR and nap time at Mara's house. We then piled into the car and road over to the con sight. I was really hoping to be able to roam around the con site that night like we do at AWA. That way I could go ahead and figure out where things were before all the people showed up. That didn't happen. Go up the stairs, get your badge, go down the stairs and get out of the building. I can understand that since there were so many people just hanging around the building doing nothing. Even people in costumes! I wore my sim icon and people were like...its a SIM! hahahaha. my badge was pretty! I loved the artwork on it, but I didn't know what series it was from. Got a pocket program book...SO USEFUL! That thing was great! And my big book which will be torn apart to make into my scrap book for this con. We then met up with Mara's Sister (Arianna, I hope I'm spelling that right) and Jamie and Dannie. All really awesome people! ^_^_^_^ We got back to Mara's house and started getting everything put together for Mara's button sales the next day. So...lack of sleep day 1...and 2 I think. But it was great to see Mara again! *Squees and Glomps!*
Friday - the day of the dead batteries of doom
Friday we started a tad late. The artists alley didn't open till 2 so that was a good thing. We had wanted to leave by 10...ended up leaving about 11 or so. That was alright...I was kinda ill that morning anyway...DAMN YOU FEMALE BODY! Pick the WRONG time to begin cycling. *grumbles* I had a slight panic attack in artists alley and I got consumed by the amount of people around. I...think...I hid it well from Mara...I'm pretty sure she didn't know. I didn't want to upset her since she was so busy getting her stuff done and I was kinda useless. I went to register for the LARP. Paul got Orphena dn I took Sora from Kaledio Star. Outside of that anime that is the most useless character for a LARP ever! I ended up not playing. *sighs* But Paul did and had a great time! Paul walked me to the line for Seki's panel, leaving me there and going to get food. We played...change the lines around game. One of the girls in line was really ticked that they weren't going to clear the room from the pervious panel before the Seki panel. Then she got all upset about the autograph tickets and stuff. She really gave the poor staff person a hard time about it too. The girl was only relaying the message, there was no need for the Narutard chick to get all upset about it. So...the Seki people got moved to a new line so the previous panel could go in. Then once they were inside we moved up again. Naturde girl is going on and on about the previous panel gettign all the good seats and blah blah they will get all the autographs and just...not being nice. If anything the staffer had done what she was suppose to and that was all that could be asked.
After an hour and a half of waiting, a Staffer comes down the line, handing out tickets. The first 25 people in line got a Seki autograph ticket....I was 27. :( And...what really pisses me off is Naturd girl got one of the tickets. After she gave that poor staffer a hard time. Oh well...win some, lose some.
The Seki panel was great! I got to sit in the front row!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^_^_^_^_^ Seki started out by doing voices for all his anime. He did Chirichi, Schuuichi some others I don't remember...Ken! He had to ask the audience for a line that Ken says in the series. It was so cute! When we would clap he would do a heroic pose and say "thank you Thank you" So Adorable. And...my camera batteries were DEAD! *CRIES SO HARD!* So no pictures of Seki. No video of Seki. No autograph.....But I did get to hear him talk and watch him for an hour! That was great. I was bugged by the people who would go up to talk to Seki and then would freeze and just stand there. One girl went on for about 2 mintues before she asked her question. The poor translator! I was too shy to get up and ask my question, but lucky someone else did! WOO HOO! Seki sang for us! *SQUEE!* The girl requested a song from his Naked Mind CD, but he asked if he could do a Weiss song instead...*SQUEE!* I know the song, I just...can't remember the title of it. Its from one of the concerts, divided into 4 parts, but on a CD I had it was just Koyasu and Yuuki that sang the song. One thing I do remember is Koyasu whispering "I love you" at the end of the song. But I can't remember the name of it and I can't find the song on any of my CDs and Paul's computer wiped and...yeah yeah on with the con report.
So Seki's panel was AWESOME! I did run by the line for autographs after, but....it was too long. So on to the Fate Stay Night photoshoot...again with no camera! *head desk* the photoshoot was fun! I enjoyed being around the other Fate Stay Cosplayers and we had a good time. We had about 5 Sabers, 4 archers, 3 Rins a few others characters. The best part of that was when Hard Gay showed up at our photoshoot. I think he just stepped outside to smoke, but we got him over and took a picture with him. That can be seen over in my photobucket, link down below. He was great...and I was blushing so bad by the end of that shot! *laughs* The sad thing was, the photoshoot lasted about 30 mintues before we started dispersing. We ran out of ideas. I did go back later and some people were still hanging out.
After going back to Artists Alley, helping at the table for a few minutes, I changed into the few pieces of my Omi costume I had and headed over to the Weiss Kreuz photo shoot. I left my jackets back at Mara's that morning and was a bit upset with myself about that. I still had my hair back in my Fate Stay Night bun so at least that was out of my way. the people at the Weiss photoshoot were AWESOME! They were really fun to be around and very easy to talk to. we had our shoot over on the water falls and it made for some really great pictures. Our first little adventure came when we started hoppign the fence to get our picture taken in the middle of the waterfalls. I handed my crossbow to Aya to hold while I got over the fence. AS I pulled my leg over, my foot hit the cross bow and into the water it went! *head deks* there was another Omi already on the rock so she tried t reach it,b ut she was too short. So I got over there, barely could reach it and it was teddering on the side of the waterfall. We got Aya's sword to pull it back and I retrieved my crossbow...*sigh of relief!* the rest of the shoot went great! A professional photographer got some pictures of us. Just went looking for his business card and cannot find it! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will keep looking and get back with you on that.
We hung out as Weiss for a bit longer, playing puns on the yaoi references. One surprise was the GA Flower shop boys showing up UBER later to the photoshoot. They were 5 hours late to the con since Yohji's car broke down on the way. Poor guys!!!!!!!!!! Then they got charged an arm and a leg to get the car battery replaced. Long story short, we worked out to do a second photoshoot the next night. ^_^ More on that in a minute.
Went back to Artists Alley, found a great Saber Statue for sale in the auction. Will get back to that as well. *laughs* We packed up fro the eveing, a bit later than we wanted cause we were going to try and make the Harry Potter realease. I was pleasantly surprised the book was not ruined for me at the con. *nods* That was really nice! ^_^ we never made it to the Harry potter release, and I'm somewhat sad cause I never made it to any of the releases, but thats alright. I'll survive. got the bed a bit late after we attempted pizza that was closed...silly Papa Johns.
Saturday - Or the OMIGAWD this day will never end!
I had a hard time getting up. So tired...each day I just got more and more exausted. And it wasn't cause I wasn't sleeping at ngiht! I was. that futon was GREAT! I don't know why I was so tired! We got a late start, but not as late as the day before. I did some people watching in the artists alley for a while. That was fun! There were some great costumes there. (Oh, I had batteries on this day!) I wore my manga skirt...adn there are some problems that need to be addressed. First...cannot sit down in that dress. second, cannot walk into a room through a door the normal way in it. It tore in a few places, which made me very sad. I can see why people are telling me to just photocopy the pages onto transparentcies and iron them onto the dress I want to make, but...I guess I'm being difficult. If I do it that way its easy to copy. Using the pages thesmeslves makes it much harder and really cool. I have a few others ideas now. We will see if I can do it by AWA or not. ^_^
I got my con badge commission, walked the Artists Alley and the Dealers room. Got some Yaoi...met PL Nunn and Piano Squall! Piano Squall is so nice! he is a wonderful person. Very open and friendly. Just a very nice man overall! I enjoyed talking to him and I got his CD. ^_^_^_^_^_^_^ Finally! Been meaning to pick it up! I also got a collecting of Fate Stay Night chibi figurines! SO CUTE! They were the last ones the table had. WOO HOO! I popped my head on the LARP a few times...realized I was useless and went back to my people watching and picture taking. I got stopped a few times with my skirt and Sim Icon. that was fun.
So later that night I was running to the Weiss Photoshoot and I crossed the skywalk courtyard. As I came closer to the Hyatt I noticed a few guys standing outside the hotel smoking. One of them...I SWEAR...was Seki! I just stood there and watched for a few moments. I couldn't move. I wanted to take a picture, but I didn't wnat it to be the wrong person and look like a total dork. I also didn't want to go up to him and be all fangirly if it was the wrong person. So...instead I stood there like a stalker, watching this Japaense guy who I KNOW was Seki, smoke. I got the nerve to take the picture after a while. But I wanted to be sneaky. So I looked like I was looking for someone while I turned on the camera and zoomed. Then I turned quickly, aimed and he was GONE! DAMNIT! So I get to the photoshoot and we meet on the staircase again. I'm talking with the other Omi and Aya. I had my full costume with socks! the socks were cute, but I know now I need a wig with Omi if Iever cosplay him again. My hair just ruined my cosplay, I know it did. *sighs* *grins* Would love to do Neko Omi with the socks...maybe will for AWA! So I'm on the stairwell with the rest of Weiss...and this guy with a snake on his shoulders comes up from behind the waterfalls. I FREAK! I hide behind the other Omi and am ready to start crying. I can't do snakes. I'm not good with them. We go down a few steps and the guy goes away. I'm starting to calm down and Aya is looking at me, wondering if I'm alright. I get better and we start talking again and the guy comes back. This time he comes our way. I'm backing up, Omi's far away so I can't hide and as he walks by me he thrusts the snake towards me, causing me to scream. Aya was not happy about that, but the guy was already gone. And now...here I am...crying for real and trying to hide it from everyone else. Omi gives me a hug andI felt a bit better, but...I really didn't relax till much much later into the photoshoot.
This photoshoot was just as fun as the previous nights. This time we stuck around a bit more and did some pretty fun stuff. I got a picture of Weiss behind one of the waterfalls. I think someone else got one that turned out better, but we will see. Then we did a Weiss Pryamid. and then a few remakes from the show. Poor Ken gets his head beaten into the ground all the time. *giggles* These girls were really fun to hang out and goof around with. I was very sad when I had to leave. I tried to meet up with them at the Yaoi panel later that night, but they never showed. Oh Well!
After leaving the Photoshoot I met Jess! WOO HOO! And her man! He knows how to take a glomp! YEAH! ^_^ I had a great time talking to her and just hanging out. We went to an AMV room and both of us were almost falling asleep. It wasn't very good. *laughs* But YEAH! Jess Meeting!
After that I headed back to the table, helped pack things away, drug paul away from the LARP and we headed home where I crashed! I was so TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday - Did I miss the Con Ending somewhere....
Sunday was a ghost town. there weren't many people around. I did run into Aya again and we walked around for a little bit before she had to go. I found Peter Beagle (the guy that wrote the last Unicorn). I got a set of pictures signed by him. I kept some and gave one to Mara and Britt. ^_^_^_^_^_^_^ He was cool! ^_^_^ Other than that....Sunday was really slow. I walked the Dealer's room againa dn artists alley. Id idn't see anything that caught my eye.
It wasn't until close to the end of the day that we got some excitement. Mara's table was right by the Artist Auction. Paul and I had seen the Saber Statue on Friday. it was Saber ina maid outfit and we both really liked it. So much that we were willing to place a bid. Well, the statue got put into the auction and it was already at $100. It was out of our price range at that point. It went for $150. Another painting, which was a collection of characters from a certain artist, went for $950 and a canvas painting of Link in his wolf form went for $650. I am in the WRONG business! *laughs* It would at least pay for my con...*grins*
After the Artist Auction it was time to pack up and get out. We got the stuff to the curb and waited for Mara to bring around the car. She was having a tough day. Frst she forgot her money for the parking garage, then took a wrong turn and got back on the highway. I laughed because I couldn't help myself. It was funny at the time.
Sunday ngiht and Monday - The Long Haul Home
When we got back to mara's and packed, I laid down and took a nap, about 3 hours I think. It was nice, but not long enough. Then we left. It was a long good-bye. Lots of last hugs and whatnot. Then we gt on the road...and cried. I didn't want to leave. I had such a good time with Mara and JJ and just really was upset when we had to go. I calmed down once we got on the high way, but just the fact I cried after leaving mara's. I don't cry at the end of con...*pouts* MISS YOU MARA!
We drove till about 4 am where we stopped off at a hotel for the night. neither of us could make it any longer. We were both too tired . We tried to sleep at a gas station, but I can't relax in the car like that. I get too worried someone will attmept to mug us or something. The place we stayed was cheap and nice. Very cheap and VERY nice. If we do that drive again at least we know where to stop off at, eh?
We got home about 5 in the afternoon Monday. Our luggage still packed int the living room and our few goodies we brought back slowly makign their way onto their selves. I have some projects already lined up and we will see what happens with them.
It was a great con! I miss all my new friends and the ones I've had already. But now...I have GOT TO SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so tired....

Poor Ken gets his head beaten into the ground all the time. *giggles* These girls were really fun to hang out and goof around with. I was very sad when I had to leave. I tried to meet up with them at the Yaoi panel later that night, but they never showed. Oh Well!
After leaving the Photoshoot I met Jess! WOO HOO! And her man! He knows how to take a glomp! YEAH! ^_^ I had a great time talking to her and just hanging out. We went to an AMV room and both of us were almost falling asleep. It wasn't very good. *laughs* But YEAH! Jess Meeting!
After that I headed back to the table, helped pack things away, drug paul away from the LARP and we headed home where I crashed! I was so TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday - Did I miss the Con Ending somewhere....
Sunday was a ghost town. there weren't many people around. I did run into Aya again and we walked around for a little bit before she had to go. I found Peter Beagle (the guy that wrote the last Unicorn). I got a set of pictures signed by him. I kept some and gave one to Mara and Britt. ^_^_^_^_^_^_^ He was cool! ^_^_^ Other than that....Sunday was really slow. I walked the Dealer's room againa dn artists alley. Id idn't see anything that caught my eye.
It wasn't until close to the end of the day that we got some excitement. Mara's table was right by the Artist Auction. Paul and I had seen the Saber Statue on Friday. it was Saber ina maid outfit and we both really liked it. So much that we were willing to place a bid. Well, the statue got put into the auction and it was already at $100. It was out of our price range at that point. It went for $150. Another painting, which was a collection of characters from a certain artist, went for $950 and a canvas painting of Link in his wolf form went for $650. I am in the WRONG business! *laughs* It would at least pay for my con...*grins*
After the Artist Auction it was time to pack up and get out. We got the stuff to the curb and waited for Mara to bring around the car. She was having a tough day. Frst she forgot her money for the parking garage, then took a wrong turn and got back on the highway. I laughed because I couldn't help myself. It was funny at the time.
Sunday ngiht and Monday - The Long Haul Home
When we got back to mara's and packed, I laid down and took a nap, about 3 hours I think. It was nice, but not long enough. Then we left. It was a long good-bye. Lots of last hugs and whatnot. Then we gt on the road...and cried. I didn't want to leave. I had such a good time with Mara and JJ and just really was upset when we had to go. I calmed down once we got on the high way, but just the fact I cried after leaving mara's. I don't cry at the end of con...*pouts* MISS YOU MARA!
We drove till about 4 am where we stopped off at a hotel for the night. neither of us could make it any longer. We were both too tired . We tried to sleep at a gas station, but I can't relax in the car like that. I get too worried someone will attmept to mug us or something. The place we stayed was cheap and nice. Very cheap and VERY nice. If we do that drive again at least we know where to stop off at, eh?
We got home about 5 in the afternoon Monday. Our luggage still packed int the living room and our few goodies we brought back slowly makign their way onto their selves. I have some projects already lined up and we will see what happens with them.
It was a great con! I miss all my new friends and the ones I've had already. But now...I have GOT TO SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so tired....
