As a Swede, I'm of course really happy with the possibility of having the infamous third European wizarding school here. I have always imagined it to be in central Europe, perhaps in Bulgaria, but I do definately buy your reading.

And you are right about the muggle legend - there is indeed rumours about a monster in the lake "Storsjön". So THAT is what the Crumple Horned Snorkack really is. Fancy that...
