Weekend Grilling

Jul 03, 2008 11:55

My brother finally made the trip down to visit us this weekend. To enjoy the beautiful weather I decided to grill, using my new favorites of "stuff from the farmer's market" and fish.

Sorry it's a pretty boring photo, most of the food was in packets. I bought monkfish and marinaded it for an hour in olive oil, lime juice, cracked black pepper and fresh thyme from the balcony. Monkfish is awesome, it's a heavier, meatier fish that reminds some people of lobster.

From the farmer's market I got baby leeks. I cut them in half, covered them with oil and grilled them for about 5 minutes with the lid closed. Then I sealed them in foil with balsamic vinegar and let them braise for about 10 minutes. I also bought baby Yukon gold potatoes (Katy's idea), and cut them up. They went in foil with oil and salt and roasted for about 50 minutes. Make sure the potatoes are either quite small to begin with for this, or you cut them into quarters at least. I found the potatoes on the top layer had problems cooking all the way through.
