Fall

Nov 01, 2007 12:24

It's fall. It finally feels like it down here, with frost on the cars in the morning (still 65-70 during the day). Made some fall food, Ship's Biscuit, and had a terrifying pumpkin mishap.

I wonder what's behind the cut? )

We had no idea our house was so moist! My husband's pumpkin developed serious mold within less than a week and mine started to cave in itself. It's now slumped to the side and gooey. I'd rather not even touch it, but it has to be moved into the trash somehow...

By the way, why the sailing recipes? Cool endeavor though!

Dan got me hooked on a series of novels by Patrick O'Brian. He wrote 20 which take place in the late 18th and early 19th century; the movie Master and Commander was based on his work. There's a lot of description of food in there, such as boiled puddings, which I got curious about. There's a companion cookbook I bought ( See my earlier attempts).
