Character Information
General
Canon Source: D. Gray-man
Canon Format: Manga
Character's Name: Tyki Mikk
Character's Age: 26
What form will your character's NV take?
This little guy - Cell Rolon, basically! He will be able to take dictation for Tyki if he wishes to do text entries, pick up and project video through his eyes, and speak in the voices of others to pass on voice messages or the like. He'll dictate text messages to Tyki, too. As if this Noah would ever bother taking the time to write.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: See the section below.
Weapons: Tease: golems shaped like butterflies that devour human flesh. Tyki stores them inside his body, which he can do because of his "Choose" ability. He can also farm them inside of other humans, planting a Tease in there to slowly devour flesh and reproduce; eventually once there are a bunch of them the human he's chosen to farm them in will sort of. Blow up. Releasing a new flock of Tease, which he will then claim.
Tyki's ability to "Choose" is also a weapon which he uses in canon to remove internal organs without actually breaking the skin. He can reach inside someone, Choosing to touch only their heart, and pull out their heart while Choosing NOT to touch any other part of them, protective bones, flesh, or anything. This pretty clearly fucks his opponent up.
He can also use blasts of dark matter (the polar opposite of what Innocence is, in the DGM series) to cause explosions and fuck things up. And sometimes, when people try to exorcise the evil Noah part out of him with their giant-ass special Innocence swords, he changes into what is apparently a giant tentacle unicorn beast. But hopefully that won't be happening anytime soon, since he's basically a ravening monster with no vestiges of self-control then, and a fucking pain in the butt to try and defeat. :|
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: In series history is
here. Not much is known of his past pre-series, and I don't forsee having to delve into it that much; he doesn't tend to dwell on it as it was mostly unexceptional and fairly normal. However, just for my own reference, I would have him born in Portugal, part of a large, middle-poor family with several siblings both older and younger. He grew up used to being part of a group, and he cared a great deal for his family as a unit even though he sometimes was sort of churned up with the group of his siblings.
He was never interested in schooling, and when he came to the appropriate age he signed on as a deck hand and general dock worker, which both kept him in food and passably in the necessities of life (cigarettes, shirts, pants, occasionally shoes, and a single deck of cards) and allowed him to be footloose, going to port all around the world, meeting new people and seeing new places. Rather similar in the way to which he'd live when not active as a Noah.
Of course, all this changed when the family found him; when his inner Noah awakened. The carefree human part of his life was only the prelude to what he'd become, and he was promptly taken under the family's wing, expected to at learn at least how to fake being a gentleman, and to do the killing work they wanted of him.
He took to that part with a good amount of speed. There was a strange reluctance to leave some human ties, some human friends behind, which was a little odd - a Noah had to accept losing all those things as inevitable. But the family was confident that he'd come around entirely, given a bit of time.
He was so good at doing the killing already, after all.
Point in Canon: Just after ditching Allen and leaving him to die in the bamboo forest in China. c:
Character Personality: A creature of many parts is Tyki, and the divisions he constructs within his mind are massively strong and - to be frank - completely unhealthy. A sane person could not adjust the way Tyki does to his double life. As well as he fakes sanity, as much as the "white" facet of his personality might be sane, that part is only a part, not less important to him (but not more important to him) than his "black" part, his Noah part, which drives his contained madness and his bloodlust.
White Tyki Mikk is a friendly, uneducated sort, a bit of a layabout, a good enough worker for a day or two but not one to put down roots. But oh, is he loyal to his friends, doesn't he do such a good job of looking after those who are put in his charge? He might be a bit of a ruffian and a card shark, but to his friends he certainly is a friend. And this is not wholly a farce. Tyki truly does love humans. He loves being able to rough up his hair, put his dorky glasses on, take the top hat off, and go without shaving for a while. He enjoys this life genuinely, and of the two it's likely that this is how Tyki started out before the Noah awoke in him. Though perhaps shiftless, this Tyki wouldn't be likely to go out of his way to do anyone harm. He's easygoing, if loyal. He doesn't crave luxury even as he enjoys to the fullest what he has; his luxury is having these friendships, connecting to these people. And then sometimes, he gets a phone call from a mysterious person, and sometimes - all of this changes.
White goes to Black. Tyki takes off his glasses and shaves. He puts on a suit and white gloves, the pimpingest top hat this side of steampunk, slicks back his wild hair, and with that, a whole different side of himself emerges. The Noah side comes closer to his skin. Tyki Mikk hunts for the Millenium Earl, presented with "to-erase" lists and tracking down every last person written down on them, to be killed in ways that are inventive to say the least, because part of Tyki's Noah nature is sadism, and he takes pleasure in that as he does everything else. He loves the terror he kindles in people, watching their eyes and their faces and their reactions as they realize they have no chance against him, as they realize they're losing - whether they react with wild struggle, tears, pleading for life... there's pleasure in all of it. And this side of him is also essential. As Tyki says, without both sides of his life, without the chance to befriend humans, travel and live very closely with them... without the chance to kill humans, to hurt them and scare them and make them ready for the death he finally releases them into... he needs both sides for his life to be enjoyable.
The Noah Tyki puts his friendship with humans aside to go and do this; he loves killing humans as much as he loves spending time with them, he loves his Noah family as well as he loves his human family. He has a special soft spot for Rhode, and acts as an uncle to her sometimes. He plays the part of the gentleman although he has no real backing in it. In fact, it might be difficult to say who the "real" Tyki is; qualities of one side appear in the other. He gorges on raw fish stolen from a fountain while wearing his fancy suit and top hat. This unwillingness to be pinned down is definitely definitive of Tyki, as much as his loyalty to those he considers friends, his love of teasing, friendly while he's a human, much darker when his Noah side comes to the fore...
And if he were to think about it, likely he knows it's a dichotomy that can't possibly last. The goal of the Earl, the goal of the family of Noah, is eventually to destroy all humans... and when the race dies, so will his dear human friends. And yet Tyki is still capable of the mental gymnastics required to maintain both sides of his life. He's indolent, greedy, somewhat selfish really except when it comes to a few specific people. He likes to tease and he likes to hurt people and he likes to be liked, he likes the double life he leads. He functions in high and low society, he knows how to charm people, how to make them like him, how to talk, even if he fails hardcore at things sometimes. Likely he's a rags to riches kind of tale, and Tyki would never want to go back to being just one thing, to having just one kind of life. He takes pleasure in it all.
Character Plans: At this point, I think I'd like to get him involved with AGI. As the Noah of Pleasure, Tyki would be inclined to some of their indulgences, not necessarily the sexual ones as well - he can find pleasure in a good meal, a game of cards, a conversation, a game. Eventually I'd like it if he could become kind of an assassin for them, which would allow him to sate some of his bloodlust while living an indolent life and making human friends, which is what he likes.
I'd also like to get him involved in bounty hunting! For AGI, if they pick out targets (tying back into him being an assassin for them as required) and for player characters as things came up as well. He'd be good at it, he'd enjoy the thrill of the chase, and it would also be another outlet for the urges of the Noah within him.
I also plan for him to be trolling Allen pretty much nonstop. So... yeah.
Appearance/PB: His icons, pretty much.
Writing Samples
First Person SampleHmmm... hm~
{the video feed begins, grainy, colors dull. it appears the NV is floating a foot or so above and behind the shoulder of a slender young man, following him as he does an experimental pass around the baseball field, kicking at the ground or clods of dirt or little stones as he goes.}
What a drag of a place. Isn't anyone taking care of this stuff?
{a pause, while he looks over some of the graffitti. and then a little laugh.} "Newcomers, go home"? Friendly, friendly. Who can't enjoy a warm welcome? I'd certainly like to get somewhere more pleasant than this...
{and suddenly, his tone is a lot more commanding. Tyki turns, glancing over the NV and it becomes clear that it's not so much that he didn't notice it as he didn't mark it as anything out of the ordinary. hot yellow eyes skip over it easy-like.}
Rhode? Funny, but I'm on the job. I have things to do... {oh woe, his voice becomes complainy.} I'll help you with your homework later, if you insist, although why you insist on asking me...
{...}
...Rhode?
Third Person SampleThe slave pens weren't the nicest places in the city by far. Tyki tried not to go there too often, and he at least managed to avoid doing it for the most part, on his own; if he had to follow one of AGI's customers or affiliates around looking amiable he went, but otherwise he kept clear, mostly. It wasn't a very nice place to go, that was mostly it; it wasn't very pleasant. For every slave that willingly gave themselves up and appeared happy enough in bondage there were ten broken souls, watching their potential future masters cycling around in front of their clean but sterile and utterly boring cells with flat, blank eyes.
It was the kind of thing where he'd have liked to make them all squirm a little (although he wasn't really supposed to do that; being there, he was there on work, after all, and had to pay attention to the customer), and also have liked (at least with some of the younger ones) to make them smile a bit, maybe talk a little, something. He was fond in a gentlemanly way (as much of a gentleman as Tyki ever was with anything; it was a farce, even he could admit it pretty easily, but he could play the part well, which was a marketable talent in Siren's Port as much as it was anywhere else, of course. Play his tractable part, follow the customer along, guard them from some things, sometimes... he was much better at the killing part, really. Although he wouldn't let himself go too far. It was good to be known for being good at his job, after all. Meant less effort expended for everything else the rest of the time.
The guy he was following along now was the paunchy, picky sort. Probably lucky for the slaves he was going through, anyway; even Tyki thought the man had some weird fetishes, and if the Noah of Pleasure thought they were weird -
More time for him to goof around, anyway, and as long as he wouldn't catch it in the teeth for doing it, Tyki didn't mind slacking off. He went to look at one of the slaves for sale instead. Some skinny kid, couldn't tell if it was male or female, sitting folded up on the floor of his little pen and watching Tyki with big, cautious eyes.
He had a little piece of hard candy in his pocket. Still in the wrapper, it was dark red, cherry-flavored (or something); he dug it out and held the sweet in one white-gloved hand, putting it close to the grate at the front of the cage. "Here, kid."
Big eyes darted up to his face, down to his hand again. The kid didn't move.
"Don't you want it?" He just moved his hand a little, rocked it in the kid's direction more than anything. "C'mon, I'm way too old for sweets like this. It's free." The candy gleamed under fluorescent lights. Without moving at all, the kid withdrew; Tyki could see it. All over its face. He didn't care that much, but it was a little annoying, and he sighed. You had to hold still with little animals. Let them get accustomed, let them come to you...
There was no smoking in here but he turned his attention away a little, looking at the other pens, wishing he could have a cigarette and that this guy would get done already. AGI had tight security around all its important offices but this was an area where a lot of money got traded around, and the sooner this guy got done with his stuff the sooner Tyki could clock off for the night. The end of his day was always his favorite part, especially on humdrum jobs like this...
From the corner of his eye, he could see the kid shifting. Hungry, wary, uncertain of kindness. It was just a hard candy, anyway. Humans were such fragile things. Easy to rip apart, mentally and physically. Tyki was good at both ways...
Footsteps tapping on concrete announced the approach of his client, and Tyki looked up, raising his free hand to the brim of his top hat in salute. The guy (Tyki hadn't bothered remembering his name; just callng him "sir" worked in a pinch, anyhow) was jowly and cranky-looking, with deep, dark eyes mostly hidden behind thick glasses. He wasn't the nicest fellow (Tyki thought to himself, smiling secretly - he knew he was so much worse).
A heavy exhale. Blowing like a draft horse. "Nothing," the man said, shaking his head in disgust - "Come on, we're done."
"Of course." Tyki waited politely for his fellow to take the lead, and then looked back into the pen. Whatever progress the kid had made towards him had all gone back when his client showed up. Tyki smiled anyway, and flicked the little candy through the grating on the door. "Enjoy."
He wasn't much of one for slaves himself. But perhaps if Rhode showed up... if she wanted a pet, or a chew toy...
He turned around and left the kid, thinking.
The night was almost over. AGI wanted this guy dead and fast; it was a pain, he could use him for a Tease farm otherwise but what could you do with these short-notice jobs. Tyki could have him in a dark alley gagging out his life in five minutes now, anyway (so much money changing hands, money and valuable property - never the safest area) - he could be cleaned up well enough and find a good bar to spend his evening and night in in fifteen. Easy, easy, tedious enough, a little pleasant, easy. Relaxing with enough time to think about other things (like maybe some slave registers, and what kind of toy Rhode would like).
