the journey back from portsmouth to newbourne is one i'm so thoroughly used to now i'm starting to rate my favourite service stations along the way. in case you're interested, i hate them all. although the worst by far is thurrock, i imagine it to be much like purgatory- very very grey, sky obscured by a layer of fog/smog, uncomfortable plastic
