i just watched another tarkovsky movie, called The Sacrifice, then read some interviews with him. he was talking about how annoying it is to have people ask him what the specific meaning of a certain moment in a movie was, or complain that the movie doesnt make sense

i think thats the difference between shit-box-office-sellout-movies and real cinema. with most kinds of art you either dont need or arent supposed to understand it down to the most minute detail, it ruins the effectiveness.
anything that can evoke some kind of real emotion in people, preferrably without plot devices, is good art. in my opinion.
