Updo wigs!

Sep 08, 2010 01:36

Ok, so a couple people have asked me about some of my updo wigs, and I figured I'd make a post in case anyone else was interested, or in case someone had some good advice to add.  This is not so much for technique as it is for materials.  And if anyone would like to recommend a good base wig and weft combo, I'm all ears! XD

Thanks for posting this! I've never done an updo, but there are a few costumes I want to do that would require one and just seeing examples and knowing more about them gives me ideas. It's a pity about the Cosworx wigs, though - I got an orange wig a while back with the intention of doing Kariya from The World Ends With You, and I had to get a Cosworx wig in order to get the right shade of orange. Fortunately, I did order a pack or two of matching wefts at the same time.

How back-heavy is the Linda XXL when pulled up like that? (A couple of the costumes I've been eyeballing would require a Cher 951 or other straight wig pulled up similarly to Samus.)

Which Cosworx wig did you get? It might be a lot of work sewing in wefts, but since Kariya's hair goes back more than up it might not turn out so bad.

The Linda XXL was not all that back-heavy. I seem to remember wearing it quite comfortably.

*checks* I'm pretty sure it was the Willow. (It also needs mild waves styled into it because the fiber is straight as a board.)

Oi, yah, I think the Willow was the worst of all of them when it came to hair distribution. But the wefts are also stick straight, so at least it'll match. ;P
