[28] Voice Post, High Priority to all Residents

Sep 07, 2008 10:17

[The PDA seems to be collecting a lovely amount of acoustic resonance from wherever the Doctor is speaking. He sounds calm and confident, sure of every word.]

Econtra. All of Econtra, new arrivals, old survivors. All of you. Please. Listen to what I have to say.

All of us resent being taken from everything we know. The people we love, the places that we have defended. Even if being brought here saved our lives at one point, everything we know is gone. Everything familiar has been stripped away, and everyone we knew...

For those of us who defended Earth or any other world, I know that there will always be that pain of separation, that burning desire to tear your way back through anything and anyone to keep your world safe. I know. I've been there. I am the last of my kind, and have been a defender of Earth all throughout its existence.

Many of us see Econtra as a prison, and daily, we lose friends, we lose pieces of ourselves. People have died here, and it all seems so worthless, so very, horribly useless, and it's like we're nothing but bait. It seems like that, doesn't it?

We can't fight effectively, half the time we're so beset by our own created misfortunes that it seems like all we're doing here is biding time while waiting for another horde of tomatoes to come and chew our legs off. And in some ways, we are. It's frustrating. It's miserable, and I wanted nothing more than to be let free. I wanted out, I wanted out so desperately.

I don't now, and this is why.

There is something you must know about the Entropi. Maybe some of you already know, but I certainly know the majority of Econtra doesn't.

[The Doctor takes a breath. There is fury in his voice, as he continues and every word he speaks seems charged with that anger. The fury of a Time Lord. His voice goes cold, pitches downward sharply, and when he speaks, it is not the genial chattering of a young man. It is the voice of a being ancient, and far more intimidating than a young man in trainers.]

They are trans-dimensional.

They're not just terrorizing this world, and this Earth, and this time. Very, very soon, they will be in your world, in your dimension, and in your time. Those places we swore our lives to protect. The Entropi will be after them and it's only a matter of time.

This is not just a petty civil war between factions. This is a war for the entire universe, for every universe that has been and ever will be - that ever could be. Every Earth. Every Special Zone. Every Gaia. Every place you can ever think of.

That is why we are here. We are here because there is no one left.

[Pause. The silence hangs for a few seconds. The Doctor speaks again.]

I tell you this not to drive you into terror, or to bring fear, but to give you hope. To say that our time here, our efforts here are not meaningless.

We're here for a reason. Every. Single. Being. There's something fantastic and amazing about everyone here, that's why they called us to Econtra. We're different. We're not different because we all have superhuman powers, we're different because at one point in our lives, we vowed to protect something, someone, be it just a person, or an entire universe.

I would bid that you open your eyes to a bigger picture! Do not give up. Do not give way to despair when darkness comes, and when the nights here seem ever so cold, and ever so quiet. I would beg of you, do not lose hope. Do not give way to apathy and dispassion, do not let your spirit die here. There is still far, far too much to be done, in this world and in your own.

We must look beyond the boundaries of our old enemies and our old homes. They are insignificant now, past quarrels, past spats, even past wars. We must be a united force. If we don't make a stop of this here, there isn't anyone else. Let us say then, "No more."

Let us look into that darkness and defy it!

We are the last, shining force, the last defense for our worlds. My dear friends-... no. My family, because that is what we are. All we have now is each other.

We must rage together against the dying of the light. More now than we ever have in our entire lives. Not for our own sake, but for the sake of everything that ever was, and everything that ever will be.

I, for one, will not go gently. I swear it to you. Not now and not ever!

Who will stand with me?

econtra
