CHARACTER:
Name: The Ninth Doctor, Theta Sigma, John Smith, Ka Faraq Gatri, Bringer of Darkness,
Karshtakavaar, the Oncoming Storm, James McCrimmon. In NeoGenesis, he will be Doctor James McCrimmon.
Age: Approximately 1400.
Series: Doctor Who [New]
Species: Gallifreyan Time Lord.
Gender: Male
Occupation: University Literature Teacher
Point of canon to be drawn in: Season One.
Preferred level: Terra

Appearance: The Doctor is a little taller than six feet, weighing in somewhere around
160 lbs - his limbs are long and rangy, though he is not gaunt. His face is long, divided by
a somewhat crooked and prominent nose. Electric blue eyes lie beneath a pensive brow, and
seem to change colours to be duller or brighter shades of blue or green dependent on the
light. His hair is closely cropped to his head, and bears an ordinary shade of brown for its
colour. The Doctor's attire consists of a black leather coat paired with a simple black,
long-sleeved shirt and dress slacks. The Doctor's facial expressions and mannerisms are
exaggerated to the point of being theatrical at times, though most of the time, his
expression is somewhat humorless. When he speaks, it is with a pleasant tenor marked by a
strong Northern British accent.

Personality: Mercurial. Nine tends to be somewhat unpredictable, sometimes capable of
committing great acts of mercy, though more often than not seeing things from a more ancient
perspective. His mantra, "Everything dies, everything has its time," is not just a saying,
but an anchor for his personality. He can be incredibly callous and unfeeling. To counter
this coldness however, the Ninth Doctor has been described as startlingly child-like, with a
constant sense of wonder and curiosity for the universe around him. Beautiful things and
people do not escape his notice, and he will go to incredible lengths to protect those he
cares for.

Nine has a strict sense of morality to which he adheres to, though sometimes this morality
does not line up with the morality and ways of the rest of the universe. While he is
sometimes driven to acts of violence, the Doctor tends towards pacifism. His role in ending
the Time War has made him markedly bitter towards a large portion of the universe, and even
though he holds a great capacity for love, it is rare that he shows it.

Abilities:
The Doctor has the ability to regenerate when his current form is due for human "death", and
the ability to travel through time. Time Lords are allowed to regenerate a total of thirteen
times before a "permenant death" occurs. He can also see all of time laid out before him,
like a gigantic picture.

Time Lord Specific Abilities:

- Ages slower than humans.
- Has reflexes faster than a human.
- Has stronger and more capable senses (taste/scent/sight/feeling/noise)
- Can sense Time; knows what can be changed, and what can't; has a sense of all of the
possible time lines; can sense time lines that have been erased
- Gifted with a bypass respiratory system, which means strangling him is difficult. He also

has two hearts.
- Can withstand incredibly high temperatures (200 C), as well as incredibly low ones.
- Able to withstand high radiation that would be lethal to humans.
- Can remain conscious under intense G-forces.
- Extremely slow metabolism, doesn't eat or sleep much.
- Able to enter a healing trance which will get him out of most physical and mental damage.
- Telepathic - Contact is the easiest form of telepathy between two Time Lords, or even a

Time Lord and a non-Time Lord. It involves touching temples and connecting the minds. It is
possible without touch between two Time Lords.

[Weaknesses]

The Doctor tends towards manic, sudden changes in behavior. One minute he is cheerful and
nonsensical, the next he can be intense or furious. On one hand, it makes him very difficult
to associate with. Generally, his companions have had very little luck in getting to know
him, as he tends to be emotionally closed off to everyone he meets. In his own eyes, he
cannot afford to become attached to things or to people, as of course, everything dies, and
he does not.

The Doctor is notably a pacifist. He will not touch guns. He sees them as unnecessary, and
usually tries to find a way to end a conflict without a fight. This quirk in his personality
has nearly cost him his life on a number of occasions. While he will not engage in a direct
conflict, he has been known to stand by and allow people to die.

The Doctor is also the owner of a very, very bad temper. While he usually slow to anger,
there are a few things that will unfailingly set him off. Injustice, murder of an innocent,
willful ignorance. His reactions to these things are often far, far out of proportion than
the situation warrants.

The Doctor tends to be sort of a walking contradiction. Even though he can be entirely cold,
he is, as a general rule, always thinking about the betterment of others, regardless of his
own sacrifices. The Doctor is a title he took because he goes places, goes to times, and
fixes them, or puts them back in their natural order. It is in his very nature to heal and to

repair damages caused by those with less moral fiber than himself. He has been called
meddlesome and invasive on a number of occasions - there are civilizations and people who
have not wanted his aid. Rejection is something the Doctor does not deal well with on any
front - it depresses him tremendously.

Time Lord Specific Weaknesses:

- Time Lord physiology makes him much more vulnerable to changing magnetic fields than humans
are.
- Deathly allergic to aspirin.
- If separated from the TARDIS entirely, it will kill him.
- Physical contact with others is difficult and painful, as his body temperature is much
lower than most species. (60F)
- More susceptible to being sensitive to psychic happenings.

History:

The Doctor explores the universe, using his vast knowledge of science, technology and history
(from his perspective) to avert whatever crises he encounters - and he has encountered quite
a number. The imprecise nature of his travels is attributed to the age and unreliability of
the TARDIS's navigation system. However, after his trial and restriction to late twentieth
century Earth, he demonstrates the ability to reach a destination of his own choosing more
often than not.

The Doctor has, to date, ten incarnations that have been counted and recorded. They are all
male. He is the last of the Gallefreyan race, with the exception of his old rival, The
Master, who shows up in various incarnations in his lives, from time to time.

The Doctor has always had a policy of being "involved" with the universe - in direct
violation of official Time Lord credo. He's usually labeled as a renegade. Most of the time,
however, his actions are tolerated, especially given that he has saved not just Gallifrey,
his home world, but also the universe several times over.

The Doctor's standing in Time Lord society waxed and waned over the years, from being a
hunted man to being appointed Lord President of the High Council. He didn't assume the office
for very long, and was eventually removed from it in his absence. His wanderlust eventually
took over.

By the time of his ninth incarnation the Doctor believes himself to be the last surviving
Time Lord following the Last Great Time War.

The Doctor is one of the last Time Lords due to the Last Great Time War. While the details of
this war are not made clear, two things are certain. The Doctor ended it once and for all,
and the war was between the Daleks and the Time Lords.

The Doctor generally travels with one or more companions. His current companion is Rose
Tyler, whom he met while saving Cardiff from shop-dummies being controlled by aliens. She was
still traveling with him before he accidentally arrived in the city of NeoGenesis. Her
whereabouts are uncertain, and now the Doctor, brainwashed by the chip in his head, simply
cannot remember where he put her last.

False memories:

Remembers Rose, but lost her somewhere. Believes she was a dear friend, or even a student of
his that vanished one day. Constantly goes around thinking very firmly that he's lost
something very important, but can't remember what. It is a constant source of frustration for
him and makes it difficult for him to sleep well.

Knows he's a Time Lord, but believes that the parts of him that are Time Lord are mutations
and something to be closely and intensely hidden.

He knows he has not lived in the city for as long as he has been alive, but doesn't remember
Gallifrey for more than quick flashes.

Remembers the Time War, but more as a war that was 'somewhere else' where he pushed the
button that ended it all. Carries a tremendous amount of guilt for killing his forces.

Essentially, his brain is muddled, and he has a difficult time differentiating between his
Time Lord self and reality as it is now. The two mix constantly. The only thing that is clear
to him is English, as he teaches Literature, Creative Writing and Composition at one of
NeoGenesis' colleges.

Sample role-playing post:

Doctor James McCrimmon sat behind his desk in his office. The University was quiet for once,
the majority of students having returned home. The only ones left now where the night
students, and they tended to be far less energetic, most of them only recently having come
from work or tending families. James noted somewhere that they all seemed so very young, all
just starting out in life. Sure, someone could live for forty years, but college! College was
the true educator, taught so many things those bloody secondary schools didn't. Teachers
could actually teach their subjects instead of prattling on about behavioral issues.

Tonight he faced a long pile of midterm exams, and the restlessness he so often felt was
beginning to get to him. He had to get out. He had to run away. He had to go somewhere else,
some-when else, anywhere but the same desk, over and over and over and ---...

Someone knocked on his door, and he sighed, knowing that there really wasn't anywhere else to
go. He rose heavily from his chair and walked towards the door, wondering who could possibly
be bothering him at this time of night.

QUESTIONS/CONCERNS:
Um, is there anything you guys want to do to tone him down? Go ahead.

DID YOU READ THE RULES?:
Yes.
