I've never written it myself, but I've read a bunch of stories that have Sam retired from hunting, making a living by writing about the hunt. (Though in those stories, Dean is usually dead, which might be why I don't write them.) I'd love to see more!

That is a fabulous idea for a story! (Although yes I wouldn't want Dean to be dead either). I like Sam the writer.

Perhaps I was just really really hoping too!

Dirk Sr is played by Tim Henry - He's been in a few things for a few eps according to tv.com - here's the link outside link

Thanks for the name! I didn't think to look at tv.com - I only checked IMDb and he wasn't listed. But, plugging his name into IMDb gave me the show I'd seen him in (recognized him from):

Just a little personal correction to your poll: This episode was as good as... Twenty Forty-five minutes in the broom cupboard with Dean SAM... (older!Sam, not wee!Sam)!!!!

hmmm...

I think that is a matter of choice. I think it should be 'Fourty-five+ minutes in the broom closet with the (legal) Winchester of your choice.'

You will get no complaint or argument from me!

I think the optional version should be the choice - after all, I would prefer the adult-Dean in a broom closet (don't tell husband!!). And, I wouldn't mind the optional version as it means less Dean to share. After all, the optional version gives us young-Dean, adult-Dean, and adult-Sam... much easier to divide between us all :)
