twitter is a good thing for short updates, I hate live twotter so much though, and I dont like it when people tweet all the time and never ever update their lj
I get really sad when fic vanishes, I know people normally have their reasons but still I get sad.
I think it's sad when fic vanishes. I get it, I really do get it but it's a shame if it's a fave. It's like a fave film suddenly being out of print isn't it!
About the fic being removed when a writer leaves fandom - nothing is forever. If I really love a story I'll snag it and keep it on my hard drive or print it out. That way I really don't care if it gets taken down or not.
You put it in perspective you are right, nothing is forever. Someday we'll all be somewhere that isn't LJ I am sure. I guess if there's an especial fave then keeping it yourself is a good idea!
I'm on twitter only to follow Neil Gaiman, Jim Beaver, and of course, Misha. He's incredibly entertaining.
Get annoyed when people post their tweets to LJ if they don't use a cut. It's easy to ignore under a cut.
A lot of the fic I really like, I've saved to my hard drive, just in case the author deletes their fic. So if writers want to remove their work, let them. It's theirs to post or not post.
Oooh you name good people to follow. I partly want one to follow celebs see but not sure what I'd do with it then ;)
I think it's sensible to save fic you especially like - as someone above pointed out nothing is forever, which is true. Someday we won't all be on LJ and it'd be nice to have especially fave fic.
I figure it's your fic and you get to remove it if you want. Save stuff you want to keep offline. It's a habit I'm glad I got into way back when the net was coal-fired. I have a fuckton of fic on my drives.
I like twitter because you can just keep up quickly with people, useful when you can't get to a phone or PC and you want to just say hi, I'm not dead.
As for posting tweets to LJ, use the damn scroll button. It's not hard
I am contemplating twitter, but then I think, I barely have time for LJ these days why add another electronic thing to keep up with! Maybe it'd be easier though, I dunno!
Someone pointed out above nothing is forever and that's true, I guess keeping stuff yourself is the most sensible thing.
