I am glad to see that Obama has won and am excited/curious to see what will be the fruit of it all. However with making a monumental turn toward tolerance in electing Obama, we have taken many steps backward here in AZ. I know that....but to hear it from someone who is supposedly educated and open minded kinda dosent sit well. Even more so when THEY have experienced this kind of blatant hatred first hand themselves.

Yeah, it almost feels like *they* feel that no one else has suffered injustices the way *they* have.

I agree - you have these people who are like you said, supposedly open minded and educated. And they are still so narrowminded when it comes to religious things. It's at that point that they are no better then the extremists of any flavor.

I was disappointed in 102 passing (I really, truly don't get how this bigotry is still acceptable!?!) but sadly, it didn't surprise me. It's AZ, after all.

What pains me more is Prop 8 passing in CA. They were making such strides, and I'm just horrified to see them backslide like this. I had such hope that at least some places were making progress.

Such mixed feelings... the country (media) seems to be celebrating the forward thinking that can elect a black president, and hardly acknowledging the same bigotry in our own backyards.

Right after I finished my post I looked over here. Looks like similar thoughts as to my own. I think most of us in the bay area are shocked and saddened at the results of Prop. 8. I do not know anyone that voted yes - but we do tend to associate with like minded people.
