okay.. where to begin this entry.. for the intellectuals out there who like to roll things around in their minds.. here is a thought to ponder.. I'm sure most of you out there know of Pandora's box.. but I'd say less than half of you know the story behind it.. so here is a brief explanation..

maybe hope can become an evil thing if used improperly... like " I hope this person dies," or " I hope this person wrecks and becomes severely injured." Hope could be both good and bad. Maybe it just depends on how it's used. Like hoping in something that you know for a fact will never happen...That would be pointless. Hope can start out as a good thing but in the end it may turn out to be a horrible thing. It's like comparing reality to something that isn't real. Hope is the unreal thing that people wish was real. Society can somewhat justify that. For example, a person in prison...he robbed a local supermarket and is currently doing time. He hopes that his case can be appealed and hopes that he'll get out very soon. The chances of that happening are slim. He's hoping in something that isn't real. The only time, in my opinion, that hope is a good thing is when a loved one is very ill with some disease. A person should not give up hope in that case...or maybe it's faith...maybe people confuse hope with faith..are they the

great answer.. my personal opinion.. hope is the purest of all evils.. it leads to all other evils in a round about way.. like you said.. hoping for something that will never happen is pointless.. but this pointless waste of time and energy could lead to less socially acceptable solutions.. like kidnapping.. obsession.. rape.. and other mental health issues.. this is in a sense "false hope" that people follow blindly.. I personally think no good has ever come from hope.. not in my experience.. but this concept of faith.. not hope.. I believe you are on to something really good there.. faith and hope are definitely not the same thing.. faith is a good thing.. hope.. hope is evil.. hands down..

I almost forgot to tell you...I loved this entry of yours not only because you discussed Hope, but also because you talked about Greek mythology. I love junk about greek mythology, it intrigues me. I recently wrote an English paper about the Legend of Atlantis. I thoroughly enjoyed the research.

You don't know me, I don't think anyway. But I found you through nick's journal... so, here is my input.

i have never really thought of hope being evil, or being anything really. the thought never crossed my mind. however, when i think about it.. it only brings heart break.
you hope that one day you can be with someone that doesn't even know or care that you are breathing. you hope that someone gets hurt, or gets payback for the wrong they done to you. Hope is a form of longing, wanting something so badly that you dwell upon the thought. Yes, evil.
