And btw, the word "confrontation" is used in a very specific way here. It doesn't mean I called up and gave 'em an earful. It doesn't mean I called up and said a buncha self-righteous bratty stuff. I tried mostly to follow the plan for confrontation outlined in Toxic Parents, although pretty imperfectly. Mostly I just wanted them to understand that a lot of their behavior hasn't been ok, and I wanted them to understand how it had made me feel. They had a hard time with that, but that's their problem ( ... )
