Hey everyone. My boyfriend and I are thinking about possibly moving to Philly next year. Does anyone have any recommendations of apartment complexes/areas to live/avoid? I have two cats so we need a place that is pet friendly. Thanks in advance!

Yeah anything north philly isnt goong to be the safest or cleanest. South philly, center city, or northeast SHOULD be ok.. But then again i work in center city (chinatown) and commute every day from del. county (western suburbs i believe) bc id rather not live in 90% of the city and that parts i would love are way out of my price range. Alldepends what you'll be wanting to do, too, i guess.

There are a lot of nice and not-nice areas of the city, but I would make recommendations based on knowing more: What's your rental price range, and do you want a lot of space or a little? What kind of neighborhood/neighbors do you want? Do you want to be on top of bars and restaurants or do you prefer quiet and residential? Do you care whether the businesses near you are independent vs chains? Will you have a car, or do you want to live car-free? What's your tolerance for crime?

Agreed that a little more information is required. Where will you be working? Will you have a car? Do you actually want an apartment complex, or would you prefer a row home or other small setting? I have lived in several areas that other people would describe as generally unsafe (Point Breeze, etc.) but have felt comfortable there. How comfortable are you with the possibility (real or imagined) of crime?
