[Liquid heard the sound of the slamming door just as he was coming back into the hotel room from getting some tea and coffee-- two things that they badly needed by then.]

Hal?

[He came in to see... some kind of parrot-thing on the bed and the bathroom door closed. Something weird was going on here; he didn't think that the engineer would leave his newly-hatched baby Pokemon all alone. The pieces of shell were still around it, for heaven's sake.]

Hal, are you all right?

[He spoke in a quiet, shaking voice, sitting with his back to the door.]

[ what sort of reaction was THAT? Even with a Spinarak hatching, he'd never just... fled like that. And leaving a baby behind, when he'd been the one to calm Rise's anxiety over her Mareep's birth? That wasn't like him, either.

But for now, she just kept calling for him. She's worried, yes. But she can't just run out of there now while she's on Ven duty. Not yet. ]

[Coming home from work, Heather caught Otacon's little transmission and was watching with interest as she walked. The sight of the little bird made her smile-- because dammit, it was cute! Hal must be really plea-- .... wait, what?]

[Heather stared at the screen for a second or two, before breaking into a run. Wh-what was wrong NOW?!]

[Fifteen minutes or so later, she'd get up to his room and knock on the door. If it was OPEN, she'd come right in.]
