Reading this has been interesting to me, because I've actually been going through the opposite. A lot of my friends as they have grown older, have shunted their religion in favor of broader world views, which I find really interesting. Some of them still cling to some pretty fatalistic ideas, but generally the ones I'm closest too tend to lead their lives in a manner that suggest they are more interested in exploring the world for themselves than having it defined so they can go about reacting to it in an appropriate manner
