So about a week ago I went to the STA offices here to inquire about altering my return trip home. I already needed to extend the ticket, and now I wanted to add a week in Barcelona for the Parliament of the World's ReligionsThe young woman explained that the changes to my itinerary would cost 415 euros and require that I cancel my ticket with

Changing plans with STA is a bitch and a half. I did it about two years ago when i went to France. As for how to get to Barcellona: try train. It might not be as expensive as a flight, and they often give student discounts.

I'd try to book a one way flight to the US ASAP cause especially in the summer it's goign to be difficult to find a way back if you don't book ahead.

Yeah but how much will it cost me to book a one way train ticket to Barcelona and then a one way flight to the US. And if I have to do that, STA better give me some of my money back. Lufthansa wouldn't.

Grrr. I'm so pissed right now. Terrible day.

you should tell them who you talked to and tell them that that person told you to cancel your flight with Lufthansa. they should take some responsibility for that seeing as how that's what they told you to do.
