Oh, my goodness. I love LaTeX so much!

Edit: Wow. LaTeX really does not like me to put footnotes in my example lists. It crashes in a really, really big way. It crashes so bad that I have to close the program and re-start it without saving any changes before it will even deign to tell me that it encountered a fatal error when trying to build the ( Read more... )

I've used a lot of footnotes in LaTex with \footnote{This is what the footnote should say} without any problems. Are your examples just text, or something else? Are they some special sort of class?

The examples are used with the use package gb4e, within the \begin{exe}. . . . \end{exe} environment. I think gb4e is mostly used by linguists to give numbered examples with glosses and grammaticality judgments, so if there is a problem with putting footnotes in that environment, I doubt you'll have run into it.

Also, LaTex may be angry at your use of \textit{italic stuff} I think that it likes \epmh{let LaTex choose the right typeface for emphasis} much better.

LaTeX and I agree on \textit{stuff} pretty well. I don't think the discord between us is coming from that.
