Otherwise known as a solar eclipse. One gets the best view of it from a pinhole camera, (see below), but I think the eeriest effect is visible in the shadows of the trees (see belower.)

The strangest thing is that the Moon and the Sun have the same visible size. This fact is so unbelievable as a coincidence that one is almost ready to believe in some higher powers that made this marvel on purpose.
