Can I just say that: The Go-Betweens, one of our most important bands ever, was only nominated for "Best ADULT CONTEMPORARY album", that's right, adult contemporary, for Bright Yellow, Bright Orange LAST YEAR and DIDN'T WIN. They have never been nominated for anything else. They have been, in fact, nominated for LESS awards, than Pauline Pantsdown. So why are we still caring exactly?
Yeah. I was so stroppy that Jet won so much. Yvette is sitting next to me going "Kris, who cares?! It's just the Arias!!!!!".
Still. Jet are a fad. And I think they'll disappear pretty quick. I thought it was have been fitting if Missy, Eskimo Joe and Spiderbait actually won a few things. It'd be deserved at least.
whatever artist or group is popular overseas at the time win all the awards. Take for example Natalie Ambrooooogliar and that other chick that was on neighbours who ISN'T Kylie. Or silverchair or the vines. Whoever has a big international album out wins everything. If something for kate get signed in the US they will win everything next year even tho they have won little to nothing in the past.
Also, Paul Kelly won best adult contemporary. He wasn't there to accept the award, probably because he was at home shooting himself.
Only Highlite, MISSY HIGGINS! Oh my.... please marry me now! And rove dressing up as Missy, he looked VERY transvestite, maybe a little TOO transvestite. Quite disturbing....
The arias ALWAYS suck, that is why I don't watch them. At least JB3 are staunchly independant and don't bow to major labels, even if there allready is a Ben Harper.
Prologue: Hello, Phil. This is Em, Sarah's sister.... just clarifying stuff.
Chapter One: I did not watch the Arias, however I was aware of the aftermath.
Chapter Two: It infuriates me that these "industry types" know so little about the dynamics of the bands they nominate. I think trying to put Jebediah/Kevin Mitchell/Bill Evans into a nominating category would send them into mass hyperventilation.
Chapter Three and the end of the Blog: a big tick and gold star for your analysis on Rove's 'comedy'. He's short and he looks like a Thunderbird character but he is certainly not funny.
Epilogue: Next years predictions include the (shock) new host, Pauline Hanson (well, look at 'dancing with the stars'. The camera loves her, clearly,) and silverchair to win the "Best Male Artist who's married to Natalie Imbruglia so he must be a famous Rock Star...oh, and theres a band as well, right?" Award for Outstanding Achievement in not having released anything as silverchair in two years.
