Summary: Ryan's thoughts as he is left alone in the pool house for the first time. I was feeling a little sad at the thought of the OC never returning for another season so I decided to write a little one shot from Ryan's first night in Newport.

It's always nice to see stories and snippets from early season 1. I thought you did a wonderful job portraying Ryan's thoughts on his first night in Newport. You closed the story with a hint of promise and hope which I liked.

the size of the main house made it look like there should have been plenty of bed rooms so what was the need of another one outside kinda like a reverse Tardis!

I liked the idea of Ryan wanting to experience that beach, nice canon link there too. I love that scene when the 3 guys walk up the path after the sailing.

Thanks for this. There can never be too much, or even enough, when it comes to those earliest moments and days. Not only does focusing on this time provide context and framework, but it reminds us and stresses just how much Ryan was bombarded with and trying to process with so much upheaval. He literally was ripped from one world- or cast out, and deposited in another- although with no certainty of what would come next or where he would land

TPTB means "the powers that be," as in the producers, writers, show runner, and even studio execs if they determined policy or made creative decisions. Does that help?

I know, there is so much that I would have loved to see. For me, most of the scenes ended in those early days way too soon.
