Summary: His eyes slowly scanning over the mess of his desk until they landed on the empty beer bottle at the corner.
Author's Notes: Sadly, it has been SO long since I’ve watched any West Wing that I’m not sure this IC at all. Also, I can’t remember what episode it is, but at the end (I think during a montage of email/letter writing, so perhaps “Somebody’s Going to Emergency, Somebody’s Going to Jail”) there is a moment where Josh and Donna are passing a beer bottle back and forth. It is a cute, awww, best friends moment. This is based on that.
Josh Lyman paused in the doorway; his hyperactive, buzzing body stilling for a rare moment. He allowed a moment of peace to wash over him. The swirling activity of the bullpen behind him forgotten for just a moment, just a breath. His eyes slowly scanning over the mess of his desk until they landed on the empty beer bottle at the corner. Warm memories of sharing that bottle with Donna Moss the night before reminded him of the warm sensation of the alcohol in his stomach.
A smile twitched at his lips. Those moments of easy companionship and friendship mattered.
