Favourite Things

I was doing some recording yesterday, including a guitar part for a song of mine which we will pretend is nameless. :-) A bit later, I was talking to Jane and remarked that, whenever I go back to that song, it immediately becomes my favourite. Her response was that, although she liked it, she wouldn't exactly call it my best

It almost always turns out - for me anyway - that the song I'm currently working on is my new favorite. I'd like to think it's cause I'm constantly getting better, but more likely because I have a short attention span.

I get some of that too but after the shine wears off I get a bit more perspective. I'm sure that part of my reason for writing a new song is so that I have an excuse for not going back and fixing the previous one. :-)
