Avant-Garde

I love "Have you Seen", and especially their avant-garde film collection...
Tell me please, if you have seen the film "ERASERHEAD", and your thoughts on it.
I was told that "NAKED LUNCH" would beat it's bizarre qualities...but Im afraid it didnt measure up for me.
ERASERHEAD, what fun...what wacko fun!

Eraserhead made me feel physically nauseous... yet it retained this charm that kept me feeling almost grateful for the sickness. It's just so disorienting, that you can't help but be in awe--that a moving picture could have that effect on you. That was my reaction, anyway.

Have you heard any of the "In Heaven (Lady In The Radiator)" covers? I know at least the Pixies and Bauhaus have done takes on it. If you're a fan of the film, you've really got to seek those out.

Speaking of music, are you familiar with Neutral Milk Hotel? I was reading one of your poems last night, and it struck me as stylistically similar to his work. If you haven't... well, you simply must! Their second album, "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" is... unparalleled. The word "beautiful" gets tossed around a lot, and perhaps some of its meaning has been depleted... but this is the only way I can describe it... that album set the benchmark for my concept of beauty.

I felt the same sense of disorientation, maybe slightly alienated in the good sort of way...but the sounds in the film and the industrial internalization was really awe inspiring for me. It certainly blew my mind inside out. That's the approach to art that really moves me...When it blows your mind on no particular level, and thus engages you without any hesitation.

Now, I will certainly seek out these covers of "In Heaven" because I keep humming the damn song in from time to time, usually in public places where it doesn't fit whatsoever...but still lol.

Neutral Milk Hotel, this is also unfamiliar to me, but your last suggestion to try my ears at the Animal Collective proved the best suggestion of sound in a while. I'm in love. So, another musical mission is on my list. This is Great!:D (Interesting you say there is a parallel with my poetic style, sounds like a unique pursuit.)

Thanks so much for the response, it has reassured my sense of attraction and discomfort.
