2006 Books Read

This has been a pretty popular poll at the librarything community lately. I'm curious to see which books I've read this year have been read by other people on my friendslist.

a) you read FAR more than i do. :)
b) i seriously haven't read ONE of those books. if i haven't seen them at the bookstore or heard of them, or someone hasn't loaned them to me, i don't read them.

i'm currently reading one called Birth: The Surprising Story of How We Are Born by Tina Cassidy.

It's a really interesting history of childbirth...the good, the bad, and the horrific through the ages.

After that, I'm planning to read Floating in My Mother's Palm by Ursula Hegi.

She wrote a book I liked called Stones from The River.

Third on my list will be Pimps, Hos, Playa Hatas, and All the Rest of My Hollywood Friends by John Leguizamo.

He's one of my favorite comedians/one-man showmen...and I love biographies.

I read Stones from the River. All I remember about it was that I thought I'd never finish and that I wish I'd never bothered starting it. It was a very tedious read. I hope that Floating in My Mother's Palm is a better read for you.

If you ever see one of the books that I've read that interests you, I'd be more than happy to loan it to you.

I didn't find it that tedious.
I noticed you have a book by Barbara Kingsolver on your list...did you make it through The Poisonwood Bible? THAT was tedious, I thought. It was good, but I wondered WHEN it would end.

Floating in My Mother's Palm is a SMALLER, thinner book. :) I'm hopeful.

I thought Poisonwood Bible was wonderful because it had so many great characters. Definitely not on my list of "tedious" books.

Well, we read similar amounts of books (though you probably read more pages over all), but I haven't read any of the same books as you this last year.

Those are the ones I actually finished. I didn't bother with the ones I got disinterested in after the first or second chapter.

The poll is for books that you've read EVER in your whole entire life. You haven't read any of those ... ever?

My bad! I thought it was just for last year.
I will answer the poll now. ;)

I've noticed that you tend to read way more non-fiction than the rest of us...

You need a check box for "none of the above."

I think you can just hit the enter poll results button at the bottom if it's none of the above. I did forget that button. Everyone else that made this poll in the community forgot it, too. :p

Ah. I'm belldl there. And I have more books than you. :P

(Granted ... most of them are Dan's since I've sold and traded too many of mine over the course of several moves).

I concede for the time being, although must mention that I'm nowhere near finished.

It's a brilliant site, though. And I dearly love the UnSuggester--trying to prove it wrong with my library.
