I really enjoyed Confessions of a Pagan Nun. Her book Black Elk in Paris is also wonderful.
I added you to my friendslist so that you can read my post about The World Without Us. I absolutely loved the book. It's one of the best things I've read all year. Then again, I like post-apocalyptic fiction, so it really fed that love besides being extremely informative and thought-provoking.
I think I found LJ through bookcrossing actually. I haven't done any bookcrossing in years though. The Changeling has been at the top of my amazon wishlist for a while now. I thought it sounded very interesting. I'm damy over at librarything. But it's both mine and my husband's account, so the only way to find stuff that I've read is to look under the "amy" tag.
With Neil Gaiman, I'd suggest Coraline. It's coming out in theatres in 3D soon. I really did not like the other 2 books of his I've read: Good Omens and American Gods. Maybe I'm the only person who didn't care for American Gods though.
I think I took the 50 Book Challenge seriously this year. Last, year, I only read about 30 books. But really, it helps that Dan has 1500 books that I haven't read. I have a long way to go to catch up. That and I don't have video games and rarely watch television since most of my favorite shows seem to have short seasons with a year between seasons anymore. So, other than cook, reading is what do.
You'd really want to hit me to know that I'm already on my 4th book of the year. The more you read, the more you have to read. I'm currently reading a really good YA trilogy I think you'd like. It starts with The City of Ember. I only put the book down to sleep (at 3am). And then I had to go out and get the sequel tonight. YA books are really faster reads anyway because they don't usually slog along with a whole bunch of boring stuff. Have you read The Uglies yet? I've really wanted to get into that series.

And I have never, ever read anything by Neil Gaiman that I am aware of, but the name keeps popping up on my flist and so maybe I'll check him out.
