Books of 2009

Jan 02, 2010 14:21

It's that time of the year again. Here are my 50 books read in 2009. I slacked off a bit at the end, or I would have read more. How many of these have you ever read?

I'll have to pop over to Goodreads and check how many I got through!

Happy New Year!

Yes - click on "my books" and down the bottom of that page you can choose how many books you want to display per page and what kind of sorting you want to use.

by the by, what did you think of Her Fearful Symmetry? I think I heard some good stuff about it on NPR one day and meant to buy it.

Ha. I don't know who Ray Bradford is.

Her Fearful Symmetry was definitely the best new book of 2009 I've read. It's very different than The Time Traveler's Wife, but it's great in my opinion. My review of it is below if you care:

I can easily say that this is the best new book I've read this year. If you like deliciously strange ghost stories, this book will definitely satisfy your appetite. I had to make myself read it slowly so that I could savor every morsel of the spell it cast on me when I would read it ( ... )

Sweet. It will go on my list right now!
PS I just stole your poll idea for my own journal, although my book count did not get as high. :(

I will readily admit that a few of the ones I checked as read were actually only partially read. I'm really bad about reading part of a book, losing interest and then never going back to it.

I had to make myself finish My Antonia and Clan of the Cave Bear.

I have to admit that I have not read any of those books. I wish I had more time to read. I can only get through about one book a month.

I managed to get through Night Train to Lisbon. I dont know if it is a book that everyone would like, but there are times you want a certain type of book...I wanted something light and silly. I picked it up just by chance, thinking maybe it was a love story...I was wrong. Maybe what we want and what we need have no knowledge of each other. Maybe that is for the best. Its just one of those things, I felt like it was written just for me in just that moment. I love the magic of books.
