I like the finishing - the black looks nice and really brings out the style-age. Like I said - cant wait to see it in person tho. :)

SO - when can I come poke your kitties?

Ciao!

justin, I'm beginning to think you could design and build furniture for a living...this is just amazing! I wish you guys lived close enough that we could commission you to do our dining room set...you did an absolutely beautiful job.

thanks! i think the true color is probably somewhere inbetween the two extremes. it does look darker or lighter depending on the light and the angle you're looking at it from. so sometimes it looks one way, sometimes the other.

the color is minwax "provincial", oil-based stain ("wood finish"). however, it is important that since i was using a softwood (pine), i used a Wood Conditioner first to help the wood accept the stain and reduce blotchiness. this is important because the wood conditioner will typically LIGHTEN the color of the stain. (forgive me if you already knew this and i'm just insulting you, i'm just making sure because i didn't know anything about that until a few months ago).

good luck with the table! you'll have to post some pictures of how it comes along.
