Dear Yuletide Author

Dear Yuletide author,

First and foremost, thank you for participating in Yuletide and for offering one of my little fandoms! I'm going to ramble on here about my likes and dislikes and my feelings on each fandom, but don't worry too much over my craziness. Please rest assured that I will enjoy and appreciate whatever you write for me. :)

In general, I like to read what I like to write. I'm drawn to familial relationships and strong male friendships. I prefer gen stories as opposed to het or slash.

I love hurt/comfort, with emphasis on the comfort. I also appreciate angst and find that sometimes the best stories come out of it, though I think I’d prefer happy endings for a Yuletide story. I’m not a fan of character death (at least not my favorite characters!). Plotty stuff is great and I can really get into it, but I’m just as likely to write (or read) one-shots that act as tag scenes for episodes or vignettes that show little slices of life.

The bottom line is that I love to read. It’s not that unusual for me to stumble across something I normally wouldn’t choose and still be pleasantly surprised by awesome storytelling. Odds are that if it is well-written I’ll enjoy it, whatever the length or subject matter.

My requests:

1. Terra Nova (Jim Shannon, Josh Shannon)
I adore this show. Sure, it has its flaws, but something about it grabs my imagination in a way that no new show has done in years. I love the Shannon family dynamics, particularly Jim fitting back into his role after his time away from the family in prison. He's so good with the girls and particularly precious with Zoe. But there is definite friction between him and Josh, despite the obvious love there as well. I'd love to read something about their relationship; maybe something where they're stuck outside the gates and relying on each other or even just an everyday moment where Josh impresses Jim in some way. Anything focused on the two of them will make me happy! Feel free to include the rest of the family or any other Terra Novans you wish.

2. seaQuest (Lucas Wolenczak)
seaQuest is a fandom near and dear to my heart, mostly because it was my first: the first show I really fell in love with, the first fandom that led me to start exploring the internet and using words like ‘fandom.’ And yes, I’ll admit that I was a little girl with a crush on Jonathan Brandis, but I was also falling in love with sci-fi and fantasy with this show. The genre has become a lasting love, and I’ll always credit seaQuest for that. It is the only fandom I have kept in my requests each year I've participated in Yuletide.
Lucas is my favorite character. As mentioned in my optional details, I'll be happy with anything that explores his relationships with the self-made family of the seaQuest, particularly the father-son bond with Bridger or his friendships with Krieg or Piccolo.

3. Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries (Frank Hardy, Joe Hardy)
Oh, Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys. seaQuest may have been my first real fandom, but this was my first fictional love. I wasn't born when this series aired, but I have come to love it through the DVD sets. As I mentioned in my optional details, I'd just really love a fic focused on the brotherly relationship. I love to watch them work together and worry over and protect each other, or bicker and tease and at the end of the day still be the best of friends. Nancy is an awesome character if you want to include her, but I'd really prefer the brothers be the focus.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings. And thank you so much for writing! I'm looking forward to my story and again, I will love whatever you wish to write. :)

Happy Yuletide!
