I am seriously considering just not coming back next year and working as an au pair or something.

Oh, you want content?

Yesterday Erin and Carlye and I discovered this place totally by accident.

Why didn't I come abroad for a whole year?

I studied abroad for a semester and then came back to do something completely irrelevant that I didn't care about over the summer. It's one of my regrets in life.

LAUREN.

Are you available to Skype sometime "today"? I might steal Jeff/Rachel's computer to do as such.

Great to hear that you're enjoying fair Deutschland, though, and feeling good being there. All the German (& Dutch, and Italian, and various other continentals) students I've ever met took aaages to get their undergrad degrees, so a year out for you'd just be getting into the spirit of European life...

well i mean you could very well take a year off... almost everyone i know who took a year off came back refreshed and ready to work more (note: the exception is when you take a year off to do heroin, or take a year off and decide that you should be doing something else with your life). also, perhaps you should also think about grad school in germany? instead of condemming yourself to a life in academia, you could also get some kind of translation job after school. or write about germany for some american news outlet. could be cool times.
