1a. I do not eat pork products, and I am working on completely eliminating corn syrup from my diet (as of now, I make a few exceptions here and there for corn syrup, but I avoid the high fructose entirely). Both emerged as challenges to myself, and I've kept them. Corn syrup I don't particularly care for, and I find that abstaining from it makes me slightly ill when I consume it now. Pork I've never much cared for (except bacon & prosciutto), and it also makes me a bit ill -- but now it's more of a moral/religious thing, as I consider boars a totem animal.
I also will not consume any product from any species of shark, also for moral & religious reasons. I'm not sure if skates & rays are included under "any species of shark," but I've never eaten them either.
I am not sure if I could eat cat or dog, but I don't diss on folks that do.

1b. There is no food that I consider taboo to myself, even though I feel I probably should. I try to consume animal products that are sustainable and killed humanely, but I'll be the first to admit I don' ( ... )

-Let me add "boiled peanuts" and "raw abalone" to the list of odd food in #3!

4. Whoops; as I said above, I was tricked into eating tripe. I did like it; not sure I'd order it, but I'd eat it again if it was put in front of me.
I was really unsure of raw shrimp or oysters the first time I ordered them. Oysters were "meh," though no longer gross to me; raw sweet shrimp (amaebi) is one of my favourite foods ( ... )

1a.) Are there any foodstuffs that are personally taboo to you; things you will not eat*? Are these decisions based on health, moral, cultural and/or religious factors? --- No, and I suspect that even if I were Jewish (raised Roman Catholic) I'd probably sneak bacon somewhere along the line. Being Midwestern, my exposure to exotic foods is pretty low, so I don't know if there's something more out there that I'd avoid. (looking down at Yuko's answer, I was reminded that I -do- avoid Octopus because they're -way- to smart for me to feel comfortable eating.) I am a little wary of veil and lamb, but its such a rare incidence that it would be had that it hasn't prevented me from eating when it's available ( ... )

1a.) Are there any foodstuffs that are personally taboo to you; things you will not eat?

I won't eat shellfish. I'm not sure if I'm allergic to it, but my nanny is, and I personally hated the taste of crab legs and lobster when I had them before. I won't eat meat fat, haven't since I was wee. It's a preference thing. Generally everything that I 'won't' eat is because I really didn't enjoy the flavor or the texture when I first tried it.

1b.) Conversely, are there any taboo foods for your health, moral, cultural and/or religious beliefs/practices that you DO eat? Why do you make exception(s) for these item(s)?
Uhhh, I don't think so?

2.) What do you, personally, consider to be gross or strange food? Is it common for these foods to be considered unappetizing for your culture or social group(s)?I think that very spicy food is unappetizing. It hurts my stomach and makes my nose run. XD I also find coffee and energy drinks to be really gross; I think I might be allergic, though I haven't proven it? I think that runs counter to most of ( ... )

Gonna try and fill this out soon, but I eat absolutely anything. Except wheat/gluten, which I am allergic to. but loved for many years. :(

The only thing I avoid eating is kielbasa/hot dogs, mainly because I ate WAY too many of them when I was younger and now the taste sort of grosses me out.

I will try anything once though, and I still eat hot dogs when there isn't any other option... though I refuse eating anything killed/raised inhumanely whenever possible, and try to avoid overly processed foods. I like things as natural as possible. (buuuuut i also love burger king and taco bell 8I can't have it anymore though because of the gluten thing)
