I knew there was good reason why I didn't want to see Indiana Jones and the Walker of Doom.

This does not bode well. Wes is usually on the mark when it comes to judging movies.

Is it worse than Phantom Menace?

There are animals in the movie.
Not a single one is real.
There's lots of other stuff as well, but I really can't explain much without spoiling anything.
It's still a fun movie, it's just absolutely ridiculous.

Has someone explained to George Lucas that animals are real are there are plenty of them for most acting needs? Or that it's real easy to make some Clone trooper armor and assemble a few dozen people to wear it all?

But the animals were really one of the only truly unnecessary parts. Once the movie got going i think i was acceptable.
