Okay, so, as we all already know, my "belief" system pretty much perfectly aligns with "Secular Humanism". That's great, right? There's a group of people out there who think the same thing as me about the world, universe, and "God". That means I'm not alone, right ( Read more... )

Maybe not so like minded after all. I think the problem is you found a belief system first and then try to fit somewhere. I think many people find a belief system and then fit themselves into it. You are unique and I doubt if you'll find people or beliefs just like you. That's not a bad thing IMHO.

just because you share the same belief system doesn't mean you have to agree on everything: or even get along for that matter. i think the problem with communication between our generation and the generation before us is that we have a very different way of viewing the world even if we share the same basic beliefs as the generation before us. you and i are great examples of this: we both should be mortal enemies but we're not, simply because we view the world the same way, even if we interpret what we see into different beliefs.

i think our generation will be closer to world peace because of this. even the generation before us is still too hung up on all the tiny little nit-picky details. our generation is a lot better at saying, "screw it. we need your help. we'll fight over the stupid things later."
