Actually I'm just here for 10 days before I leave to Spain. I'm glad to hear from you, it has been a bit. How have things been?

oy. one reason i could never be a vet, as much as i love animals. i can't just ask them what's wrong.

i think she'll be okay, don't dogs sometimes just pant to cool off? like it's nothing major?

Well yes but she was just laying in her bed. No reason to be rapidly hyperventilating for hours, you know?

Ooh that sounds awful. My doggie is still not doing so hot but at least I can take her to the vet now.

Thank you.

I don't mean to terrify you, but one of the symptoms my dog had before I had to put him down (just in January - and he was only seven :() was really heavy panting for no reason. It was related to super low blood sugar. The poooooint of this is, take her to the vet! Even if she's settled and hasn't done it again. He did that a couple of times over the past few months and while there was probably still nothing I could have done, you should always get it checked out.

Well I didn't want to get into her medical stuff right now but if anyone would get all this, it is you. She had her immunizations this year and had some rare reaction to them where her red blood count dropped severely. She would have died if they hadn't put her on Pretesone, but it is such an awful drug. It makes her hungry and thirsty all the time, she's listless and often seems uncomfortable. The vet attributed her panting to the Pretesone. Poor thing. But yeah, thanks for your input. We've been very vigilant over her with the vet.

Oh, how scary! And yeah, I hear you on the prednisone. Any steroid will do that, but pred. is the worst. My dog was the same way the few days he was on it. I'm glad she's feeling better now, though!
