Stupid Groundrat!

The stupid groundrat was correct -- there are six more weeks of winter. On Friday, we set an all-time record snowfall...the most in 24 hours. 19.6 inches! The children now officially HATE snow days since I made them go out and shovel every two hours. Luckily it wasn't too cold and the blowing doesn't drift our driveway like it does for some ( Read more... )

snow here, too di_in_wi March 21 2005, 09:33:23 UTC
But not 19 inches! We got 5 inches Thursday night and another 5 Friday, but it was wet and slushy so it didn't look like that much (hard to shovel, though!). It has melted down to about 2 inches today (much deeper snow in the shade and bare ground in the sun). We had a beautiful, sunny day yesterday so I can't complain.

Loved your digression!

I'm glad to hear you guys didn't get dumped on. We are dropping the kids off there with my parents for a few days of "spring" break.

Did you walk your 10?

Walked 10 and it went well. Of course, I took a nap that afternoon!

Leave the sidewalk? Well, only insane people would go walking when it's snowy out!

Here there's a law that you're responsible for the sidewalk, and if you don't shovel it and someone slips, you can be sued. (If you don't maintain it and someone trips on a tree-root crack, you can be sued, too.)

Happy second day of spring!

Supposedly you have 24 hours to clear everything off. But I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket. Unfortunately, the worst offender up the street doesn't have a bus stop near her, otherwise, I think she'd be ticketed.

This is the same place that, when the last snow started melting, had a dead deer in her yard. I mean....how do you miss that? ewwwwwwww

Ewwwww! If they were in grade-school, they would SO be called Dead Deer Family to their face for the next umpteen years!

Snow and six more weeks of winter? We'll be most likely be having mandatory water restrictions in WA this year.

I saw that Montana was really hurting, too. Out here on the plains, we rely on the ground getting "good and frozen" and for good snow cover. We haven't had a water problem for a few years.

Actually, the six weeks would have ended on the 16th. Hmmm, that's no fair!
