Kill Bill.

I finally saw Kill Bill: Volume 1 yesterday. The premise of the movie is pretty good, but the layout and execution is phucking fenomenal. My respect for Tarantino went up about 7 notches. The way he tells the story not in chronological order, but in logical order (like a book, jumping around because of circumstance) is revolutionary, or at least ( Read more... )

you're respect for him went up 7 notches... then your finger went up your but 4 knuckles! BITCH!

OHHH SUCK IT! SPELL STUFF RIGHT! SLUT!!!! OHHHHHH DAMMNNNNN.

oh yeah, and dont talk about movies like you know jack shit about them. seriously. movies out of chronological order are NOTHING new. in fact "velvet goldmine" by Todd Haynes which came out in 1998 ACTUALLY shows events out of order. when all kill bill does is tell a back story. the events are NOT in fact out of place, he simply juxtaposes EASILY RECOGNIZABLE flashbacks in the storyboard in order to clarify.

fuck! i mean George Roy Hill's 1972 rendition of "Slaughterhouse-five" does a superb job of this. so please, dont talk about movies like you know shit about dick. BITCH

On another note, Quentin Tarantino is certainly not the first director to tell a story outside of chronological order. Most Woody Allen films don't...and as a matter of fact once you get outside of the realm hollywood high budget film it becomes fairly common. It has been done since cinema existed, and is far from revolutionary.

Tarantino isn't brilliant because he groundbreaking or revolutionary, he really isn't. What is brilliant are his various homages and references to great filmmakers.

Well, chronological order and spelling aside, I am rather ambivalent about the movie. I did feel that a lot of things were so "shock-value" that that was all I could think as I was watching them. I also couldn't seem to sympathize with the main character--perhaps it is just my personal views, but I couldn't get behind her "mission." I often found myself sympathizing with her "opponents"--I considered that as intentional, but am apt to discard the thought--because we are given more information about them.

Also, I think it was supposed to be funnier than I found it to be.

Not bad overall, but I don't think I really loved it.
