This is not entirely untrue. I think one of the misperceptions that white males often get stereotyped with is that because the majority of people who hold power are white males, that the rest of us have more advantages because of it. In fact it's quite the opposite situation - to the small percentage of white males who hold real power, there's no bond of brotherhood - they'd step on me as quickly as they'd step on you if either of us got in their way. In fact, all other things being equal, somebody like Mitt Romney or Mark Zuckerberg would probably prefer to promote a minority over a white male in order to demonstrate how "open-minded" they are. In my opinion, that perception shifts focus away from the REAL issue, which is the gross inequity between the rich and poor.
