Primitive tools won't make training with stronger tools any easier because both tool sets require different skill sets. Intuitively speaking anyway, I'm not a know-all in cycling (but Alex might be).

Its a matter of what bike you're riding. If you got a cheap, Wal-Mart bike, return that shit. Then go to your local bike shop and pick up a bike made by either Giant, Trek, Specialized or Cannondale. Those are quality bikes--they'll cost more, but you'll get a lot more value out of them.

As for primitive tools to train and all that...just train. Get better. After you're riding about 100-150 miles a week, then start worrying about whether your equipment is elite.

Note, there's a very distinct difference in the gap between good bikes and elite bikes, and good bikes and cheapy bikes. Make sure you get your money's worth.

The cheapest Trek I found was ~350, and thats a no frills, no suspension, anything bike. I got two messages from your post, (1) Return your cheapie bike, (2) but until you ride 100+ a week, don't worry about your bike. Which is it? Right now I'm at 25-30 a week.

BTW do you still have your bike? Is it in Miami or do you have any bike in Miami?

What about a Mongoose, Roadmaster, or Schwinn?

Those are bad bikes. I'll explain my other post later.

Too bad you can't do hill training. Have you tried cycling near Key Biscayne?

i thought it was smart to buy a 35$ pair of asics running shoes and im gonna end up spending more than waht it wouldve cost me to just buy a 100$ pair from the begining thatn itll cost to have some lower ack pain taken care of.

go mediocre.
that 350$ deal is a pretty good one i mena i dont know a whole lot but train with a better bike.
