So... I pretty much feel like a total selfish dick most of the time.  A lot of times I go ahead and do the non dickish thing, but I always really want to do the dickish thing.
This time?  I really didn't want to go to the new husband's house for Thanksgiving.  I guess a lot of people will alternate which place they go to every year if one or more of

we alternate xmas and thanksgiving with each side by year. so, this year is mom's side xmas, dad's thanksgiving; next year is mom's thanksgiving, dad's xmas. it seems to work out okay.

Pat and I usually ignore both families for Thanksgiving. It's our holiday to be us as a family. Though we did go this year because his Dad was out of town taking care of a sick brother and his Mom cannot cook really so we helped get food on the table. This was also the first holiday since his cousin died so...
