Oh, fellow non-mono-linguists. I need your help.I hate 'studying' a language. It makes me sick. Tedious grammar combined with rote memorization of useless vocabulary all presented by a teacher who hasn't been abroad in the last 20 years. I'm still surprised that I passed my English classes ( Read more... )

I've found sites where you can download audio-books, try to do it, I can't because i think our admins have blocked this opportunity - to download

1. http://audioknigi-darom.ru/audiobooks6.htm - scroll down and you can see the table of classic books, in the top of page you can choose genres...

2. http://mds.altervision.ru/mds/ - try here

Aww ~ I'm not really sure how to help you, but I know how you feel :( And I agree ~ the best way to learn a language really is to immerse yourself in that language. I'll bet that any eager learner can learn any language if they moved to the right country :) But most peolpe can't just decide to move to Russia because they want to learn Russian, unfortunately :'D I agree with you on language classes, though.. I think a lot of the time, they're too easy for someone who actually wants to learn a language comprehensively :/ But I think the higher levels, like university courses, probably provide you with a good, solid base... and meeting some people who speak the language is also important, to learn colloqualisms and to hear the words pronounced by a native speaker :) Best of luck with learning Russian! :D I'll bet that you're already very good :) Maybe it will be easier because you speak Polish? Don't get discouraged ~ just keep trying and I'm sure that your Russian will be great in no time :) (And sorry for this long rambling comment!)

Actually Polish didn't help as much, well I understand movies and stuff in russian but talking, I always talk a mix in Russian and Polish If Im not careful - sound like ukrainian on a bad day. lol

How did you learn English? On what did you focus? Grammar, Vocabular?

Look, what about communicating in icq? I.ve read some posts of your diary and, you know, I.m interested. I/ll read everything, it's just a matter of time. I feel we have much in common.
Actually, this is one of the two my diaries. The second is devoted to selfrealisation or smth like that.
I.m Russian and I live in Russia. I.m good at English, aiming to improve my French and Italian that are not well yet.
So we could speak half time Russian, half time English or whatever you prefer and enjoy getting to know each other. I hope you don.t find that silly.
Or we could write emails.
Жду ответа:)
