Most Interesting Summer Evar.
I asked my son to write a story today summarizing his summer. (See what I did there?) His report follows within the cut.
My Summer
Week #1: All I did was play Minecraft. I made a land arch. I called it the quarry. I also added secret areas.
Week #2: This week I went to Garden of the Gods and watched a movie about the sandstone there. In the movie, I learned that Colorado Springs used to be an ocean. (See, you really can buy beachfront property in Colorado ... if you own a TARDIS.)
Week #3: I went to Camp Invention and Made a laser tag accessory. I can't remember the rest except playing water tag.
Week #4: This week I went to Oma's. There was a hail storm on the way. :( When we got there, I got my sonic screwdriver. :3 I played tag with the cousins and lost. :( It was like the Hunger Games because they teamed (up) on me. Later on in the week, I went swimming, then went to see Madagascar 3. :D (We drove through a hailstorm that broke my windshield in several places and did about $4,000 in body damage to my car. I still need to get the body damage fixed ... but the boy did remarkably well, considering.)
Week #5: There was a fire. It burned 18,000 acres. It was the most destructive fire in Colorado history. I was tired when I got up. (We woke him up at 10 p.m. the night of June 26 -- that was the night that nearly 350 homes burned just a couple of miles north of us and the night that our neighborhood came under a pre-evacuation order. If not for Jupiter, my nearly feral cat, we might not have left, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to get her out if I had to leave in a hurry, so we decided to leave as a precautionary measure. We holed up with just_jenn for a few days. I'm very grateful she and her husband extended the offer to us, because I don't know what shelter would have accepted us and all five of our cats.)
Week #6: This week I went to Challenger (Learning Center). I did a mission in which I went to space. My dad bought me a Newton's cradle. (Made by a toy company ... with a disclaimer that the Newton's cradle "is not a toy.") Challenger gave me a free flashlight.
Week #7: I went to Mad Science camp this week. I went swimming on Tuesday and Friday. I also did an experiment with Diet Coke and Mentos, had a cupcake and got a Murron-sized piece of icing on my nose.
Week #8: This week I spent with (p4intthestars). Once, I played with Megan on ths slip and slide. I also played Minecraft. The best part was getting a Minecrafter who isn't 160 years old. (That's me, apparently. -_-)
Week #9: This week I went to the Humane Society. I pet a rabbit then pet Fizzgig. (There's a story with Fizzgig and rabbits that I'm not going to go into here.) I also learned how to train a dog and cat. I learned the importance of taking care of animals. I met a bloodhound named Ginger. Bloodhounds are best known for their ability to track down people with their noses.
Week #10: This week, I went to the Youth Center. I went bowling, swimming, played an ATV game on the (PlayStation 2) and rammed a guy off the map, went to a water park, got sunburned, got a tan (and) played in water on splash day.
Week #11: I went in a 5k race called "The Color Run." There were five colors: 1) yellow, 2) orange, 3) blue, 4) pink, 5) ALL THE COLORS!!!! (There was also green, but I got more of that than he did. I also took many photos, which you can see on my Flickr page.)
