I'm not sure if you're using OS X, but if you are they don't let you adjust memory settings as the system is supposed to be able to take care of this:/
If you go into the following folder with Phoenix quit: Home/Library/Preferences, you should see a file and a folder (you can use View:Arrange->By Name to make this easier) called LJ Logs and LJ Preferences. Try removing those two items from the folder and see if Phoenix will let you start up and put in your username.
Let me know if this works, as I need to figure out what's causing this bug:/
