::Maria sat in the dining cart, gnawing on a piece of fish and staring at her unwritten letter to Denny. Her body still ached and she was still upset over the whole being chased around by a psycho thing. But at least she had survived.::

Dear Sergeant Br Denny,
I'm writing to you from a train, somewhere pretty far outside of Amestris. I am alive.
I've been told that you won't be able to tell anyone what's in this letter. I'm not sure how that works but since that's the case, I feel it's safe to tell you all of this.
Colonel Mustang faked my death and smuggled me out of the country with a few refugees headed to Xing. Only the Colonel, Edward, Major Armstrong, and Second Lieutenant Breda know that I'm still alive. I'm afraid though, that I cannot come back. If I were to return to Amestris, I would be killed on sight, and the Colonel would probably be arrested and put up for execution as well.
I don't know where this train is headed, but I'm sure it's not Amestris. I'm safe here. I have food and a bed. There are others and I've made a few friends. So please don't worry about me.
::Maria sighed, thinking about the events of the previous night. Maybe that wasn't the best thing to put in a letter to her partner to assure him she was safe.::
There's a conspiracy going on in Amestris, Denny. Please, get as far away from Central as you can. Don't get involved. I don't want you put in a position like I was.
Thank you for being such a good partner over the years. I'm glad I had you behind me. If I had known it would turn out like this, maybe I would have taken you up on a date or two. You were the best partner, and the best friend, that I could ever have hoped for. I wish the best for you in the future, and hope that you make it through this conspiracy unharmed.

That had been difficult to write, even though she was glad she'd gotten the chance to let Denny know that she was alive and safe and warn him about what was happening in Amestris. All she could do was pray that Denny took it seriously and got out safe.. She'd never forgive herself if she let him get wrapped up in what was happening.
She folded the letter in half and tucked it into her jacket to pass off to the Conductor later.::
