So has anyone seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I think it is Tim Burton's best film. I love how it completely diverges from the first film adaptation and likens itself to the book. See the first film was good, but if anyone thinks about it, they kind of made it a bit too biblical. For example Charlie is Jesus, Willie Wonka is God, Slugworth ( Read more... )

Ah you do love to look into things and link them eh? Argh I still haven't seen the second one, I MUUUST! And if not, as soon as it is released on DVD I buy and watch over n over, ohhh my yes! =D

Oh god. Where to begin. Totally agree on liking the second rendition better, although I've never read the book. Must say, I did VERY much enjoy this Wonka better. No, not because I'm a Johnny Depp squealer, because I thought the character was so much more believable. Something about Willy and his dad just struck a chord with me. I'm not sure why, but I felt that the original Wonka just didn't have enough visible layers. Layers yes, but we really saw no indication as to why he behaved the way he did ( ... )

Its not hypocritical, he created slugworth like god created lucifer and they both tempt each child, charlie being good willed and goodhearted sees past this and shows his integrity. He wanted a legitimate person to take over his kingdom like god.

God didn't create Lucifer? Lucifer was a fallen angel... or did God create the angels too? I'm not really with it. I tried to read the bible but only got past genesis.

God created all the angels, Lucifer was one of the first, an Archangel who betrayed god
