Gerbil Leeches, and other things

Today on the way in to work, I noticed something on a tree in the courtyard that resembled a leech, only it was fuzzy in a very gerbil-esque way. Looking around, I saw 5 or 6 more of them. Strategically placed... I think they are a crack commando unit of tree-assassin gerbil-leeches.

I dragged our jack-of-all-trades maintenance guy out to the courtyard to look at Gerbil-Leeches this afternoon. He doesn't really speak english so the humor of that was lost on him. What I found was that there is a name for such creatures (other than "Gerbil-Leech") and it sounds something like GREGUUUUUURETGCHABULAGUEAHOANORECK.

Apparently if they get on your skin, they burn you.
