A list of M&M/Mars brands (I'm boycotting the products until I see the company create some gay-friendly advertising to offset the damage they've done with the homophobic garbage they released during the Superbowl ( Read more... )

You talking about the Snickers ad?

I suppose it was somewhat homophobic. I guess I felt it was more making fun of those inept, goofy homophobes I know you and I are so enchantingly familiar with, though.

Hm. What pushed it over the line for you?

This part is what pushed it even harder for me - though it has been pulled from the official site - it was captured on a community here:

The version that aired didn't offend me. I thought it was funny, in fact.

The car hood thing, and the 'reactions', though, didn't just push it over the edge, they catapulted it past the breakers.

Unfortunately, however, I never patronize any of the Mars products above, so a boycott wouldn't mean a damned thing where I'm concerned.

Thanks a ton for posting this; it saves me a bit of time figuring out what I'd be boycotting.

Ugh...I cannot believe they went there. So unfortunate. So upsetting.

Ending I'd like:

"Quick, do something manly"
guys take off their shirts
guys lift the heaviest thing they can, repeatedly, like weight lifters
glistening muscles turn each other on
guys start kissing again
fade to black.

:)

*grin*

Oh, I forgot the part where they take more bites of candy bar in between kisses. Or licking melted candy bar off each others' nipples.

Controversial, gets people talking, *and* buying more product.

I'm sorry.
I can only help out so far.
I love the dark chocolate snickers.
I'll eat them at the eagle, but i ain't giving them up.
The rest, no problem:)

There will be no drama. However instead of attacking via a product that won't do any good really, how about addressing the media and adverising houses that came up with the commercials?
People still drink Coors even after they stopped donating to various white power charities..now their commercials FEATURE African americans.
How about being proactive instead of reactive?
Just a thought.

*chuckle* Oh, I'm headed that route as well. Already sent off letters to the various companies involved, and will be writing State and Federal Reps shortly - probably tonight.
