And yes, thanks for saying this. My family is notoriously bad at both gift-giving and receiving, so you can never expect a graceful receipt fo a gift. I've had to work on that, and my response still isn't as gracious as it should be. But truly, saying "thank you" shouldn't be that hard.
Very well said. I'm discovering (rediscovering) the pleasure of giving gifts.
For a long time it was hard for me to receive gifts without guilt or pain, because we were so poor I could never afford to give them anything in return. I'm very glad those days are past.
I was absolutely thrilled when I'd rediscovered the joy in gifting last year - all too often, it IS seen very much as a requirement and a burden in our society, and giving gifts should never, ever be done in that light. It brings grief instead of joy.
I *adore* the concept of paying it forward, and I do consciously do seemingly small things in the hopes that someday, that small bit of goodwill I created will go on to do bigger things for someone else.
LOL! Oh man, so I did. Totally unintentional; I think I wasn't logged in at the time and for some reason thought this was a new entry - I *thought* it was familiar. Silly me :)
