Ugh. So, I've never been really good at replying quickly to people in heated confrontations (of the non-intellectual/ivory tower variety).

At least you had the courage to say something. It's one thing to be in your own world and laugh at the outside; but it's another thing altogether to do so at the expense of other people's feelings. If malice must be involved, so must discretion. And it sounds like you opened the door for other people to complain.

I suppose threatening a life is common for them; children are sponges and just reiterate what they've heard. Early puberty has ugly consequences, and makes a dangerous partner to the inherent cruelty of children.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't think early puberty helped, but I doubt it was the root problem. Fortunately I have a script from my CPS teacher for any future encounters.
